Facts about KM. Myrland
Myrland was originally a sailor, but was invalidated after an explosion accident in Houston, USA, in the early 1970s. In 1976, he broke through as cultural visuals with his socially devastating texts and distinctive voice on the debut album Isbål. Among the highlights were the songs “Like the sky,” “Elisabeth” and “78 ° North”. In the years up to and including 1983, Myrland released eight albums. Then it became quiet from Myrland on the plate front until 1997 when the collective album Vante folk – K.M. Myrland’s best was released. It featured 21 of Myrland’s most popular songs. Then there were 10 new years without releases, but in 2007 he released two new albums: Nightmorra and Speed - Live from Tromsø. In 2010, Soelespor came. In 2016, KM Myrland celebrated 40 years as a performer and released the album Komaland.
Myrland lives today at Mørkved in Bodø. He is known as a touristic artist with great popularity, especially in northern Norway. Myrland is accompanied by the group Vante Folk, which today consists of the musicians Øyvind Nilsen (bass), Steinar Krokstad (drums), Sverri Dahl (keyboards, accordion) and Tore Morten Andreassen (guitars). The group, who participated in the recording of the albums Nightmares, Speedway, Sjelespor and Komaland, has been Myrland’s regular backing band since 2006.
